Why do I see creditors on my credit report I paid off over 7 years ago?? How can I get those off my report??

The credit bureaus says they take off creditors who were paid off over 7 years ago…I have creditors on there from 10 – 12 years ago still on the credit bureau reports…also alot of duplications of a company who changed their name…This is never ending…Any suggestions appreciated..I have a myannual free report and a fico one and also one thru my bank that is free…All are different…which one is the true one creditors will look at?
