Question by Sunshine17: Which credit cards report your credit to the bureau?
I will be getting a credit card soon in order to build a credit history, as I am only 18. I know that some credit card companies do not report your credit history/ payment history to the credit bureau, and I want to avoid those as I am trying to build a history of payments on time, etc. to build my credit score. Thank you in advance for all answers!

All of them do.It is a myth you ‘need to build’ a history. Not having a credit history is viewed as a good sign. Do not use a credit card because you want… a ‘history’. That would be completely stupid. You know credit-cards cost you money? Buying your weekly cinema ticket with a coke and popcorn will cost you yearly about $ 50 extra. No kidding.Just use regular cash to pay for your ‘needs’ and use normal bank options to pay larger amounts. This will also get you a ‘credit rating’ at your own bank. Only pay what you can afford and you will have a good rating.

It sounds wish you just need to dispute these things with the bureaus. You can do so online and just state as your reason that they were discharged in bankruptcy. Don’t hire anyone to do this for you. You would just be wasting money.

A New Horizon Credit Counseling Reports A Simplified Credit Card Agreement Introduced
Fort lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) December 19, 2011
A new consumer-friendly credit card agreement has been introduced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the agency created to safeguard the rights of the American public in their dealings with financial institutions. The new agreement has been shortened to approximately 1,100 words, down from the typical 5,000 word agreement currently in use by credit card issuers. The change is intended to reduce the contract with the banks to manifest English said Raj Date, the bureau’s interim director, at a recent news conference. Reports A New Horizon Credit Counseling Services is a nonprofit debt management organization that has been helping consumers since 1978
Stephen Marcus, President of A New Horizon Credit Counseling Services, applauded the revisions which he called “tenacious over-due”. Marcus said, “Making the unexampled agreement easy for the consumer to understand allows them to make better decisions when selecting a credit card, particularly with regard to the new fees being introduced almost daily.” A New Horizon is a national credit counseling agency that assists consumers with managing their debt.
The new agreement is being tested with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va. With 1 million members, and $ 15 billion in assets, it is 1 of the largest credit unions in the country.
The new agreement contains 3 sections: Costs, Changes and Additional Information, designed to clearly explain the prices, risks and features of the credit card. Marcus aforementioned, “This is a good start, but in order to simplify the disclosures, the bureau had to move some of the explanations of terming to a website, calling into question whether the consumer will make the effort to reference them on the internet.” Consumers without internet access can get the additional definitions in hard copy.
With an estimated $ 700 billion in U.S. credit card debt, approximately $ 6,000 per household, and “difficulty understanding the terms of their agreements” being the transcended consumer complaint, any improvement designed to make the consumer better informed is a welcome change, said Marcus.

Question by Oceanlady: How can a creditor (or collection agency) report to the credit bureau when they have never contacted me?
There is a balance of $ 8,000 on my credit report from a collection agency I have never heard of and has never informed me. Can interest on an old balance of $ 3500 add up to $ 8000?I

Answer by timothy p
you wager it can add up. The interest plus late fees kept collect after you quit paying. As soon as the collection agency locates you they will come after you for the balance. Check you local state laws for the statute of limitations for them to sue you. It may have expired and their only option is to ruin your attribute. It will remain for 7 years from the date of last payment
