Keilee asked: I interviewed for a job at a bank, and at the orientation the HR woman said that in a credit check she ran, another person’s name came up on my report. I have no idea who the person is, but sometimes we get mail for her (it’s always a credit card ad or spam mail). It’s my parents house and to their knowledge, no one lives on the street with that name or has lived at this addy. My employer wasn’t concerned (I got the job) but said to check with the credit bureau. I’m going to speak to someone at my bank b/c I don’t want to do an online dispute on some random credit site. But why do you think that woman’s name is on my report and how easily will it be removed? IDK anything about this stuff. I know my credit’s good – no debt or what not.
The only thing I worry about is interned for the State of Ohio for 2 years several years ago. My name and info got stolen along with many other workers’ info when an intern’s computer was stolen from his car. This was about 2 years ago, and that’s when we started getting mail w/this woman’s name. Coincidence? All the employees whose info was taken got free Debix protection accounts from the State for one year, and in that time, nothing came up. So if it had been this woman trying to open an acct. with my info, wouldn’t I had been notified? Wouldn’t it be more likely that somehow our addresses got mixed up? Don’t know if anyone else in my family has her name on their reports. When my dad recently bought a car, they didn’t say anything about it.
I already had a fraud alert placed so that anyone trying to open anything with my name had to go through me first. That’s what the Debix was.
